27. Deliverer from Diseases - Mark 5:21-34

When sickness strikes, our first instinct is to turn to doctors. If the illness is severe, we seek a second opinion and see a specialist or a surgeon. But what happens when the sickness has no human cure? Where do you turn when medicine fails, when human help runs out? Where human wisdom ends, Jesus’ mercy begins. Where doctors are baffled, Christ is sufficient. He is not only able to heal, but willing to heal, moved by tender compassion for the broken and afflicted. In this sermon from Mark chapter 5, we consider Jesus, the one who deliverers us from our diseases This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on July 12, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai. Series: The Servant King, on the Gospel of Mark In a world that prizes power, prestige and self-promotion, the Gospel of Mark gives us a portrait of a King who kneels to serve, who rules through sacrifice and who conquers not by the steel of the sword but by his love. 26. This World is Full of Beggars... - Mark 5:14-20

None of us desire to be thought of as beggars, nor to end up in that pitiable state. But the truth is that this world is full of beggars, spiritually speaking. We are all begging, or longing, for something we desperately desire. The question is not whether you beg, but what do you beg for? 25. Lord of Legion (Mark 5:1-13)

Just as Jesus silenced the storm in the previous passage (Mark 4), we see in Mark 5 that He is able to silence the defiance of demons and bring peace and healing into the lives of those held under Satan’s power. He is able to restore the broken and recover the damaged. In this sermon, we consider Jesus, the Lord of Legion. 24. Ruler of All Nature - Mark 4:33-41

The storms of life are not hypothetical for the Christian, they are real, they are sudden and they shake us to the core. In this passage, we see that the storms of life are opportunities for us to discover that Jesus is not distant but rather he is ever present in the vessel with us to bring us peace. The question is not whether storms will come, but whether we will experience the peace of God in the presence of Jesus – the ruler of all nature in the storm.
