Your trinket auntie is here with episode two of the Trinket Picnic Podcast! This episode is part 2 of our mega deep dive into Sylvanian Families (aka Calico Critters) - be sure to first listen to part 1, which you can find here [https://trinketpicnic.substack.com/p/sylvanian-families-part-one] or wherever you listen to podcasts. In part two, we pick up where we left off in part one: we cover the toy’s history from 2010 up to present day, including more video games, more animations, more in-person attractions, and lots of new figures and sets, including a special anniversary set worth nearly a $$$ grand ( ˶°ㅁ°) !! Of course we talk about the effect the pandemic had on the brand—both the good, the bad, and the drama-filled, and we take a long stroll through the many sanctioned and *ahem* un-sanctioned products and collaborations that have happened over the years. And don’t forget to listen to the PS to find out if I truly became a Sylvanian fan and collector. ✴︎˚。⋆ Links: Epoch’s Notice to Custom Clothes Makers and Consumers [https://epoch.jp/support/important-notice/article/20241216.php], 2016 Interview with Epoch’s CEO [https://www.theworldfolio.com/interviews/global-toy-success-f/4195/], Japanese Wikipedia Sylvanian Families Entry [https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B7%E3%83%AB%E3%83%90%E3%83%8B%E3%82%A2%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%9F%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC], PHONE CALL animation [https://www.instagram.com/p/DEdT4G-zDzv/], a real-life Sylvanian house [https://ameblo.jp/hashihama2017/entry-12595818558.html], Sylvanian Families Reddit [https://www.reddit.com/r/sylvanianfamilies/], Sylvanian Resources [https://sylvanianresources.com/]. Sylvanian Families: Part One

Your trinket auntie is here with the first episode of the Trinket Picnic Podcast. In this inaugural episode, we kick off our picnic game strong with snacks and a deep dive into the history of the Japanese toy Sylvanian Families—or for you Americans and Canadians, Calico Critters. In part one, we cover the first 25 years of the toy’s history, including their inception in Japan, their disastrous original debut in the USA (yes, we solve the mystery of when they actually made their American debut!) and transformation to Calico Critters, the highs and lows in the UK, and the many iterations of the toy in other countries. And of course we’ll talk about all the special figures, sets, merchandise, and experiences that have only ever existed in Japan. Stay tuned for part two next month! ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ Links: Sylvanian Families Stories Stop Motion Animation [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWoPAlt2o4U], 2016 Interview with Epoch’s CEO [https://www.theworldfolio.com/interviews/global-toy-success-f/4195/], Sylvanian Families Reddit [https://www.reddit.com/r/sylvanianfamilies/], Sylvanian Families Fandom Wiki [https://sylvanianfamilies.fandom.com/wiki/Sylvanian_Families_Wiki].
