The Real Enemy Wasn't Alcohol | With Mark Roundy | Episode #058

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2241336/fan_mail/new] In this episode of the Truly a Masterpiece Podcast, Craig sits down with his longtime friend Mark Roundy—a husband, father, fisherman, and faithful follower of Christ—for an honest conversation about addiction, recovery, shame, self-doubt, and the grace of God. Mark shares his struggle with alcohol, what finally got his attention, and the journey that led him to sobriety. But as powerful as his story of recovery is, Mark explains that alcohol wasn't the deepest issue. Beneath the addiction was a battle with shame, self-doubt, and the lies he believed about himself. Along the way, Craig and Mark discuss: • The unlikely friendship that began with a chance meeting at a boat ramp • Why so many men stay away from church • Common lies men believe about themselves • Why surrender is so difficult for men • The importance of authentic male friendships • How shame and self-doubt keep men stuck • Why many men stop dreaming—and how to begin dreaming again Whether you've struggled with addiction, battled self-doubt, or simply want to become a stronger husband, father, and follower of Christ, this conversation will encourage and challenge you. The Real Reason Negative Thoughts Feel So Powerful: And How to Change Them | Episode #057

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2241336/fan_mail/new] Why can one word of criticism ruin your whole day while ten words of encouragement barely make a dent? Why does rejection linger in your mind? Why do mistakes seem louder than success? In this episode of the Truly a Masterpiece Podcast, Craig explores the surprising reason negative thoughts carry so much power. Psychology tells us what it is, the Scriptures tell us why it is, and how to change it. You'll discover: *  Why negative thoughts often feel more believable than positive ones  *  How shame fuels the negativity bias  *  Why positive thinking alone isn't enough  *  Why salvation creates capacity but it requires renewing the mind to develop   competency  *  A simple four-step process to overcome destructive thinking Most importantly, you'll learn that the goal isn't simply eliminating negative thoughts. The goal is learning to think in partnership with God. As your understanding of God's love grows, your problems may not get smaller—but you will get bigger... You plus God is enough for whatever you face. Scriptures: Genesis 3, John 3, Romans 12:2, Romans 5:5, Philippians 4:13, Psalm 23, Psalm 139, James 1 If this episode encourages you, share it with a friend who may be struggling with discouragement, self-doubt, anxiety, or negative thinking. Don't Let Resentment Ruin a Relationship | Episode #056

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2241336/fan_mail/new] Resentment can quietly destroy a relationship—even when love is still present. In this episode, Craig explores why resentment is often much deeper than the situation that triggered it. Beneath irritation, tension, and emotional withdrawal is usually something unresolved in the heart: insecurity, fear, disappointment, unbelief, or an identity wound. Through the story of “John and Angela,” Craig shows why trying harder to “not feel or act resentful” doesn’t work—and how true freedom comes through honesty, trust in God, renewing the mind, and discovering the truth that sets you free. This is not just a conversation about relationships. It’s a conversation about identity, freedom, peace, joy, and learning to trust God with the deeper places of your heart. In this episode: • Why resentment is an identity issue • Why suppressing resentment never heals it • The difference between confessing the symptom and confessing the root • How resentment often exposes deeper unmet needs and beliefs You don't have to sacrifice freedom, peace, and joy on the altar of love. Time stamps 1:00 Don't let resentment ruin your relationship 1:29 What most people do 1:44 John and Angela 2:42 Show sacrificial love or learn to live with resentment? 4:00 There is a better way. 4:15 Stop trying to hide the resentment 4:43 Admit that your resentment isn't sacrificial love 4:58 Honesty is what it feels like when healing begins 5:01 Confess the root and not just the symptom 5:34 Resentment isn't the root. It is just the revealer 5:58 What "trusting God" does not mean 6:11  Recognize what you are feeling 6:36 Find the truth that sets you free 7:47 Resentment is rooted in a lie 7:55 Finding the lie is a process...like peeling an onion 8:33 The "truer-truth" 9:13 Ask the Lord for help. Psalm 139:23 9:21 John's truth that set him free--it was his identity 10:35 God had not asked him to sacrifice his freedom, peace, and joy. From Shame to Freedom: Shane’s Story (Part 1) | Episode #054

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2241336/fan_mail/new] For 23 years, Shane lived trapped in an addiction to pornography. He tried programs, accountability groups, Bible studies, discipleship, and every solution he knew to try. But no matter what he did, he could never go more than three weeks without failing again. Then one day, his wife gave him a sobering ultimatum: “You can have pornography, or you can have your family. But you can’t have both.” That moment woke Shane up and gave him the courage to try one more time. In this powerful and honest conversation, Shane shares how becoming a student of the Truly a Masterpiece Course helped him finally experience breakthrough. He explains the life-changing difference between confessing the symptom of sin and addressing the deeper root—unbelief. Today, Shane is experiencing freedom, joy, and deeper love than he ever thought possible, and that freedom is now overflowing into every area of his life and relationships. Shane said:  “Knowing what I know now, I would have paid thousands of dollars for this training and considered it a bargain.” This is Part 1 of a two-part conversation. Part 1 is about finding freedom.  Part 2 is about life after freedom. If you’ve ever struggled with shame, addiction, self-doubt, or feeling stuck, this conversation will encourage you deeply.
