And it worked.  This week, Aqueelah and Ashley break down the Hulu documentary The Cult of Nature Boy — the psychology behind why people join cults, why Black Americans were specifically vulnerable in that moment in history, and what the research says about the tactics used to pull people in and keep them there. Also Aqueelah shares something she's never talked about publicly. Something that could have gone differently and very left.   Two things can be true: the community was not wrong about the world. The one about “choose a godly man” and “stop dating thugs” and “be a wife first” — and how every single one of those women did everything our community told them to do. And still lost their lives.
