Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2529433/fan_mail/new] Last night’s SmackDown had some big moments heading into Saturday Night’s Main Event, but WWE absolutely wasted Trick Williams vs Carmelo Hayes on free TV with almost no real feud behind it. Yes, the match was good. Yes, Trick winning was the right call. But this felt like a rivalry WWE should’ve been building for months instead of throwing onto SmackDown with distractions and interference attached to it. The entire show honestly felt like WWE trying to cram too much into one episode. Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn delivered in the main event while Gunther continued looming over the title picture, and the women’s division kept moving fast with Tiffany Stratton, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill and more all colliding at once. But the biggest talking point for me is still Trick and Melo because that matchup has HISTORY. NXT built them as brothers, rivals, and future stars, and WWE treated it like just another TV match instead of a major storyline chapter. The worst part is the finish didn’t even let the match fully breathe. Ricky Saints got involved, distractions happened, and it felt more focused on continuing side stories than actually making Trick Williams vs Carmelo Hayes feel special. WWE had a potential premium live event level feud sitting right there, and instead it came off like filler on a go-home SmackDown. Great wrestlers. Great chemistry. Wrong place, wrong timing.
