Ep 7 - Kathi Miracle, My Silver Tsunami and Sundowners

In episode 7 we change things up a bit and chat with our resident expert in Alz and Dementia. Kathi Miracle is a life long friend and all around amazing person. Kathi’s counseling others on the care, dignity and safety of those on this journey, her career has spanned more than 30 years working with seniors affected by various forms of Dementia. To bridge a gap between diagnosis and the actual journey, Kathi is created My Silver Tsunami to be a guide to help people navigate this journey with the information they need to overcome challenges and provide a platform for learning, collaboration, guidance and community. In this unscripted…uncensored…unapologetic episode, I draw a parallel between a child custody case I investigated — one where three children ages 4, 6 and 8 were left alone without supervision, without an adult — and the devastating reality faced by families navigating Alzheimer’s. Just like those kids, a person living with ALZ is vulnerable, confused, and in need of someone to step up. And that someone... is us. Being the adult isn’t always easy. It’s messy, exhausting, and thankless — but it’s necessary. I talk about the emotional weight of adulting for someone with Alzheimer’s, how it flips the roles we once knew, and why showing up matters more than ever.
