A reflective journey into the unexplained where hauntings, psychology, history and human experience meet. Each week, Jamie Newman explores a different mystery: disappearances, hauntings, true crime events, spiritual encounters, and the moments that sit between fear and fascination. Cinematic, empathetic, and grounded in research, every episode dives deep into the strange, the spiritual, and the stories that linger long after the lights go out. No seasons. No breaks. Just an ongoing, evolving exploration of the unknown.

The Hand of Glory: Britains Darkest Folklore Secret

In this episode of Beyond Haunted UK, Jamie explores one of the darkest and most unsettling objects in British folklore - the Hand of Glory. For centuries, thieves were said to carry a candle made from the severed hand of a hanged man into homes in the dead of night. Every sleeping person inside would be rendered completely helpless unable to wake, unable to move, unable to call out for as long as the flame burned. But this is more than a folk legend. A real, preserved Hand of Glory exists to this day, hidden for decades inside the wall of a cottage in North Yorkshire before being discovered in 1935. It still sits in Whitby Museum today. This episode traces the origins of the legend, the historical accounts of its use in real crimes, and the deeper question of what it tells us about the people who believed in it — and why that belief mattered. Rather than dismissing the legend as superstition, the episode reflects on what folklore reveals about fear, death, and the human need to make sense of a dangerous world. Topics include: Hand of Glory, British folklore, Whitby Museum, gallows history, folk magic, mandrake, paranormal history, dark history UK, and unexplained objects. The Highgate Vampire: Britains moment of madness!

In this filler episode of Beyond Haunted UK, Jamie explores one of the most compelling and unsettling chapters in modern British paranormal history — the Highgate Vampire. In the winter of 1969, residents near Highgate Cemetery in North London began reporting a dark figure moving silently between the graves. What followed was a wave of accounts, media frenzy, and a public panic that would see hundreds of people descend on the Victorian cemetery in the dead of night — torches in hand, searching for something they couldn't explain. This episode traces the full story — from the first quiet witness reports to the self-styled vampire hunters, the television appearances, and the extraordinary scenes that unfolded at the cemetery gates. But beyond the spectacle, it asks a deeper question: what does it say about us that so many people were willing to believe? Rather than offering easy answers, the episode reflects on the atmosphere of the era, the psychology of belief, and why Highgate Cemetery continues to unsettle visitors to this day. Topics include: Highgate Cemetery, the Highgate Vampire, Sean Manchester, David Farrant, Victorian burial history, paranormal panic, mass belief, London history, and unexplained phenomena. The Night I Thought Something Was Trying to Speak Through Me : Gosport Isolation Hospital

In this episode of Beyond Haunted UK, Jamie revisits a personal experience from the old Gosport Smallpox Isolation Hospital on Monks Walk - a place designed to separate the sick from the public during outbreaks of infectious disease. What began as a quiet investigation inside the abandoned site quickly became something far more unsettling. While sitting inside a small room centred around a Ouija board, Jamie describes a sudden internal shift - not something seen or heard, but something felt. A pressure. An urge to speak. A moment where control felt uncertain. This episode explores that experience through a grounded and reflective lens, considering the space between environment, psychology, and the possibility of something beyond explanation. Rather than offering answers, it focuses on the feeling itself -and how moments like this can stay with us long after we leave the place behind. Topics include: Gosport isolation hospital, smallpox history, Ouija boards, paranormal investigation, psychological perception, environment and atmosphere, and unexplained experiences. Some footage and audio used in this episode is from a stock library intended to illustrate the themes and atmosphere discussed. jakson The Crucifix I Couldn’t Ignore kansikuva

The Crucifix I Couldn’t Ignore

In this episode of Beyond Haunted UK, Jamie shares a personal experience involving a crucifix purchased from an antique shop - an object that stayed on his mind long after he first saw it. What began as a simple purchase gradually developed into something more reflective, as wearing the crucifix became part of daily life. Over time, this was followed by an unexpected shift in thinking, including a growing curiosity around church and belief that hadn’t previously been present. This episode explores the crucifix not just as a religious symbol, but as something shaped by history, meaning, and personal interpretation. It considers whether the object itself had any influence, or whether it simply brought attention to something that was already there. Through a grounded and reflective lens, this episode sits between psychology and spirituality, examining how symbols, environment, and awareness can shape the way experiences are understood. Topics include: Crucifix symbolism, belief, psychology, religious influence, personal experience, perception, and unexplained shifts in thought.
