Drawing Out the Gold - A Conversation with Kerrin Butterworth

In this conversation there is an emphasis on the importance of having a vision for the child and for the family. We explore how understanding and nurturing a child's inherent gifts can help in parenting rather than just reacting to behaviour. Kerrin shares practical examples, such as using quiet time to teach self-regulation, and involving the family in defining and working towards shared values. We also discuss the significance of observing and supporting a child's development without immediately reacting to challenges. Our conversation highlights the balance between correcting undesirable behaviour and guiding a child's gifts in a positive direction. Large Families - A Conversation with Juliet English

A conversation with Juliet English. Juliet is wife to Larry, mum to 7 amazing young people, and more recently a foster carer. Juliet started out working as a social worker, but made the decision to become a stay-at-home mum in 1993, with three little ones at home. The decision to home educate was made in 1998 when the family were still living in South Africa, and they soon became part of a thriving and friendly home ed community. They continued home educating after moving to the UK in 2007, and are still home educating their youngest through his A-levels. Juliet continues to be very involved in the home educating community and has run successful home ed groups in 3 cities, co-ordinates the Learn Free Home Educators Conference annually (May) in the UK, and speaks and writes about all things home ed. Juliet is passionate about home education and is engaged in national and global initiatives to promote home education as a legal right and valid option. Acomedido - A Conversation with Kerrin Butterworth

Michaeleen Doucleff wrote a book called 'Hunt, Gather, Parent', in which she introduced the concept of 'acomedido'. In this podcast we discuss acomedido and how Kerrin has been applying it. Sandra Dodd has long been a key influencer in unschooling methodology and philosophy. For many, many years she has given wise, compassionate advice to people who would like to follow a different way in educating their children. I am one of them.
