Missing in Austin: The case of Krislyn Gibson and Sidney Taylor

In April 2016, two friends traveled to Austin from Houston to attend a music festival. After returning to the home of an acquaintance, they were never seen again. They have never been found. Buried in the backyard: The murder of Nicklas Kinslow

On August 18, 2020, a woman called police to report a body was buried in the backyard of a south Austin home. Homicide detectives began their investigation into the claim. With the help of crime scene personnel, Austin Fire Department, and staff from the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office, the body of a man (whose identity was later confirmed as Nicklas Kinslow) was unearthed from a grave constructed in the backyard. Two people would eventually be charged with murder, but the Travis County District Attorney's office would later drop the murder charges and allow both defendants to plead to lesser charges.
