In this episode, we’ll share local resources—and how you can help bring hope to those facing cancer.  This special edition of Health Her Way, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, highlights this year’s Cattle Baron’s Ball benefiting Hope Lodge Lubbock. Covenant’s mission is to provide high-quality cancer treatment close to home, and Hope Lodge is one of the ways we bring that mission to life.  In this episode, we sit down with Cattle Baron’s committee members Ryan Lewis and Jo Beth Vance, along with Covenant Health social worker, Rebecca Morrow, to discuss Hope Lodge and the vital support it provides to patients receiving care at Covenant Health Cancer Institute. You're not over the hill just yet, but the climb seems to be getting a little harder, a little slower. Today on Health Her Way we're focusing on life after 40 - and the best way to keep our brain sharp, bones strong, and heart healthy for the next 40 years.  In this episode of Health Her Way, hosts Meredith Cunningham and Brooklyn Elbert welcome Dr. Keya Malhotra, geriatric and internal medicine physician, to talk about how women’s bodies age, especially after 40, and what that means for long-term health. Her passion lies in caring for the elderly and is a vocal advocate for maintaining their dignity and independence. She enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients and their families. Today on Health Her Way, we’re diving into nutrition to find the best foods to fuel our bodies and what we should avoid.  On this episode of Health Her Way, Meredith Cunningham and Brooklyn Elbert sit down with registered dietitian Traci Cochran of Covenant Health to talk all things nutrition. It's called “the transition” when your brain gets a little foggy, the temperature seems to always feel a little warmer, and everything on your body starts to look a little off. How and why do women go through this “transition,” also known as perimenopause? Let’s find out more.  In this episode of Health Her Way, hosts Meredith Cunningham and Brooklyn Elbert welcome Covenant Health OBGYN Dr. Bennett Henderson to break down the often confusing and complicated season that can begin years before menopause officially arrives. Dr. Henderson shares the hormone changes and common symptoms that can show up during perimenopause, along with the mental, emotional, and physical shifts many women experience. She also shares how these symptoms can be treated, from lifestyle adjustments to medical options, so you can feel more informed, supported, and empowered during this phase of life.  Dr. Bennett Henderson Bio:  Dr. Bennett Henderson is a native Texan who completed her undergraduate degree in microbiology at the University of Texas at Austin. She then attended medical school at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center (TTHUSC) in Lubbock, Texas focusing on obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN). During her residency, Henderson was recognized as an “Outstanding Gynecological Surgeon” and served as the Administrative OBGYN Chief during her last year of residency. From physical and hormonal changes to emotional shifts and recovery, Dr. Mowzoon helps break down what’s normal, when to ask for help, and how to show yourself grace through this season of life.    Dr. Mia Mowzoon Bio: Dr. Mia Mowzoon is an obstetrician-gynecologist at Covenant Health. Dr. Mowzoon completed her Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwell Staten Island University Hospital. Her training included emphasis on abnormal bleeding, and treatment of fibroids through minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery.   She trained in a high-volume obstetric setting, giving her the experience to confidently manage the unpredictability of pregnancy. Dr. Mowzoon is focused on creating the best possible birthing experience for new mothers.
