Episode 7 - Construction Zone Ahead

What is the first thing we do when we see a Construction Zone Ahead sign? If you are like me, you panic! Your mind starts racing. You are already assuming traffic will be backed up. You start worrying if you will make your appointment on time and on and on and on. Our brain automatically goes into "what-if" mode. What if I am late to my appointment? What if there is an accident? What if I can't get off at my exit.....All because we saw a Construction Zone Ahead sign! In life, future events can have the same effect on us. We know of something coming up; a surgery, a visit from a relative, a test, etc. and before we know it, we are consumed with so many negative thoughts about something in the future that we forget to enjoy being in the present. After recording this podcast, I almost didn’t publish it because it is honestly one of the most raw and challenging podcasts I have done to date. I found myself not sticking to my notes, going off “script” and totally fumbling over my words. I actually found my brain going to the “what-ifs” I talk about in the podcast. But then I remembered my purpose for beginning this podcast….to hopefully help anyone who is traveling their journey and find themselves struggling. And y’all, I was struggling! Struggling to talk about a subject I am struggling with on my journey. I too need to stop worrying about future events which can create ideas in my head that may not even exist; stop allowing negativity to take over my thoughts and stop going into what-if mode! I had to tell myself  I’VE GOT THIS and hit publish! So that is exactly what I did! I hope as you listen, you feel the honesty and total vulnerability in my voice and it touches you in a very positive and uplifting way.

Episode 6 - Pump the Brakes

Because I am learning how important it is to slow down, pump the brakes and take care of our mental and emotional health, I wanted to discuss some very manageable ways we can make that happen. The way we feel about ourselves and others can be so beneficial in dealing with everyday difficulties and in turn make us more positive and productive as we continue our journey to finding our best self and most purpose filled life.
