🎙 Le Hawkesbury Social Wellness Podcast: Mental Health, Relationships, Pain Management & Communication

🎙 Le Hawkesbury Social Wellness Podcast: Mental Health, Relationships, Pain Management & Communication: With Host Adam Stacey, Founder & Podcast Host + Mental Health & Addictions Counselor 1st Year College Student. This episode explores how mental health deeply impacts our relationships, especially during seasons of pain, illness, anxiety, depression, or major life stress. When one person is struggling internally, every relationship around them feels it. Anxiety can increase irritability and hypervigilance. Depression can reduce emotional availability. Chronic pain can heighten stress and exhaustion. Over time, this can create misunderstanding, distance, and emotional strain. A central truth is this: no matter how much you love someone, you can only give from what you currently have within you. When your emotional or physical capacity is low, your ability to show up fully is limited. That doesn’t mean you don’t care, it means you’re human. The focus is not blame, but growth. Healthy relationships require nervous system regulation, honest communication about emotional bandwidth, and realistic expectations during difficult seasons. Structured check-ins, boundary setting without guilt, and separating the person from the pressure can significantly improve connection. Whether in friendships, family relationships, or romantic partnerships, shared responsibility is key. Healing yourself is not selfish, it strengthens your ability to love others well. Awareness, compassion, and practical tools are the foundation for relational resilience. Have A Wonderful End To Your Family Long Weekend if Your in Canada... LE HAWKESBURY SOCIAL IS AVAILABLE ON SPOTIFY OFFICIALLY & OTHER PLATFORMS OF YOUR CHOICE...SEASON #2 - EPISODE #3 WELCOME TO LE HAWKESBURY SOCIAL DR PATEL AT 2:00 P.M. EST AND WILL BE POSTED TODAY FOR LISTENERS TO ENJOY... PART #1 - OF 2 PARTS....PART 2 COMING THIS COMING WEEK! Dr. Shila Patel was born in Kenya and completed her medical training in Scotland and England before moving to the United States at age 26. A licensed psychiatrist for over 25 years, she has worked extensively with both children and adults. During the pandemic, witnessing a sharp rise in mental health challenges, she authored three books, Us, US Unhinged, and US Fractured, to encourage self-awareness, personal responsibility, and healing. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to creating positive change and leaving a meaningful legacy for future generations. 📈 Rising ADHD Diagnoses and Medication Prescriptions * Rates of ADHD diagnosis in children have increased significantly over the past decades in many countries. For example, surveys in the U.S. showed around 11 % of children have received an ADHD diagnosis, up from lower rates in earlier years. * In Ontario (Canada), prescriptions for stimulant medications to treat ADHD grew by about 157 % from 2015 to 2023, reflecting a marked rise in medicated child patients. * Evidence suggests overdiagnosis and overtreatment of ADHD in children and adolescents may be occurring, especially in cases with milder symptoms or borderline cases. A systematic review found indications that many diagnosed cases and subsequent medication use might not strictly reflect true underlying disorder rates. * Some research shows that children who are younger within their school grade (and may be developmentally less mature) are more likely to be diagnosed and medicated, which can indicate mislabeling normal behavior as ADHD. * Diagnostic practices vary widely by location and clinician, which can contribute to inconsistencies in who gets diagnosed and treated. * Better awareness among parents and clinicians and reduced stigma have likely increased diagnosis and treatment access. * However, looser application of symptom criteria, social and school pressure, and caregiving expectations might contribute to diagnosing children who don’t strictly meet full diagnostic thresholds. * Some experts argue that increased diagnosis reflects better recognition of previously underdiagnosed children, including girls and adults. * Others caution that medicating children without thorough assessment may expose some to unnecessary pharmacological treatment and its side effects. ❗ Concerns About Over diagnosis and Inappropriate Medication🧠 Why the Trend Is Happening⚖️ Balance of Perspectives https://www.lunchroomcares.ca [https://www.lunchroomcares.ca] Lunchroom News Cares [https://www.lunchroomcares.ca] Lunchroom News Cares is the company that Le Hawkesbury Social is under to bring joy to listeners.
