Brianna began her JMT journey as an intern in Knoxville and transitioned to full-time nearly two years ago.  Her path to civil engineering wasn’t traditional; inspired by the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse, the Linn Cove Viaduct, and her stepdad’s career, she discovered her passion for bridge engineering.  Brianna shares the excitement of seeing a bridge rehabilitation project she helped design come to life and how her love of sewing connects to her engineering work through creativity and precision.  Listen to her story as we celebrate innovators like Brianna, shaping the future of STEM/STEAM!

Episode 46: Meet Jennifer Slacum, PWS, QP - Senior Environmental Scientist in Hunt Valley, MD

In this episode, we’re excited to sit down with Jennifer (Jenni) Slacum, PWS, QP, Senior Environmental Scientist in our Hunt Valley, MD office.  Jenni shares her inspiring journey into the world of natural resources, sparked by childhood adventures in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands and her early work at the Penn State Cooperative Wetland Center.  A lifelong love for the outdoors, from camping and canoeing to gardening and hiking, has shaped Jenni’s approach to environmental science and her career at JMT.  We also dive into her contributions to the Maryland Living Shorelines Protection Act (2008), where she worked as part of a multi-agency team focused on preserving and protecting our coastlines.   Listen now to learn more about Jenni’s path and passion for the environment!
