Pastor Jim Rose Bio A native of Florida, Pastor Jim Rose received his degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1958. Upon graduation, he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant from the United States Army, which sent him to El Paso, Texas for officers’ basic training and then to Connecticut where he served in the Air Defense program. In 1963, Jim entered Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) to pursue a Master of Theology degree in New Testament Literature. He was asked to pastor Arlington Bible Church with another Lieutenant, which became his first pastoral position before graduating from DTS in 1967. Since then, he has held various pastorates including those in Iowa, Florida, Dallas, Texas, Connecticut, Calvary Baptist Church, New York City, Grace Covenant Church in Austin, Texas, Packsaddle Fellowship in Kingsland, Texas and finally at Grace Gathering Church in Llano, Texas. During this time frame, seven of these churches were new startups, and five new church plants were created to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Rose has become well known for his dramatic sermons and narrative writings. He portrayed numerous characters from both the Old and New Testaments through monologues, using them as an evangelistic approach to the Scriptures. Before leading Packsaddle Fellowship in 2015 and helping to start Grace Gathering Church in 2015, Jim served as Interim Pastor at Grace Bible Church in Georgetown, Texas, First Evangelical Free Church in St. Louis, Missouri, and Grace Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Jim was a member of the Board of Dallas Theological Seminary from 1994 until 2011 where he held the position of Chair of Regents and was involved with the Department of Pastoral Ministry. He enjoyed speaking at Bible and Family Life Conferences in Pine Cove and Camp of the Woods, upstate New York as well as pastoral seminars. Due to his ongoing interest in the pastorate, Pastor Rose provided consulting services, including assisting Calvary Baptist Church in New York City during their search for a new pastor. For over twenty years, he continued teaching leadership classes, which were by invitation only and designed for men who he felt qualified to further Jesus’ Great Commission. These classes focused on Old and New Testament studies, with homework assignments mimicking those of seminary students. He called this his “unaccredited school,” and it typically took two and a half years to complete. Pastor Rose has authored a library of sermons that will continue to be published as a podcast at various listening platforms and at PastorJimRose.com. During the past several years, he has been teaching on “The Attributes of God” and the “The Book of Revelation” through his audio and video blog, available at https://pastorjimrose.com. For over six decades, Jim Rose led tours to significant biblical locations such as Israel, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, and Jordan. He has also conducted tours to Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Romania, India, Thailand, and Peru, South America. His speaking engagements have included conferences in various countries like India, Romania, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, and Peru. Pastor Rose was married to Phyllis Ann for 65 years, during which they celebrated their anniversary together. They have two sons: Dr. Keith Rose of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mark Rose of San Antonio, Texas, with twelve grand-children between them.

You're Up - 2 Timothy 4:1-5

Pastor Jim Rose discusses several key elements critical to effective preaching and ministry, including staying focused on the truth of God’s Word, being bold and pointed, and persevering through challenges. He draws upon biblical examples from historical figures like Noah and Paul, as well as contemporary figures like Bill Moore, emphasizing how these principles apply across different contexts and generations. Rose begins by highlighting the importance of preachers keeping their messages sharp and focused, regardless of whether they are in a season of great acceptance or challenge. He underscores that true preaching is not about popularity but about staying true to the Word of God. Throughout the sermon post, he emphasizes the need for pastors to stay engaged with their congregations, understanding each individual’s unique circumstances while remaining steadfast in teaching core principles. He also discusses the concept of an “open door” opportunity, encouraging listeners to seize every chance to share God’s truth effectively and passionately. Rose concludes by reiterating his belief that true ministry is a continuous calling rather than a temporary role, emphasizing that future preachers will take up where current ones leave off. Throughout this sermon post, Dr. Campbell provides foundational teachings grounded in biblical examples and principles, inspiring listeners to remain steadfast in their commitment to preaching the Word of God with passion, patience, and persistence. Scriptures: 2 Timothy 4:5-6: “But you, stay alert! Stand firm in the faith… Finally I am left on my own.” Romans 9:17: “For God has imprisoned for now, but for your good, he will reveal his magnificent power in us through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:13-14: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” These references underscore the themes of enduring commitment to truth and calling, even when faced with challenges or changes. Preparing Our Replacements - 2 Timothy 2:1

The sermon begins with an introduction to the speaker, Pastor Jim Rose, highlighting his extensive experience as a senior pastor and involvement in various ministry boards. The main theme of the sermon revolves around picking good men and helping them do their best—inspired by Jester Nimitz’s leadership philosophy. Paul emphasizes that true success comes from entrusting others with what God has entrusted us: His Word, truth, and grace. Pastor Rose emphasizes this point by drawing comparisons to historical figures like Admiral J. C. Nimitz and Robert E. Lee, who both led their respective forces with a strong sense of purpose. He then applies these principles to modern-day contexts, explaining how many churches focus too much on form rather than substance and fail to properly disciple members for future leadership roles. Pastor Rose highlights the importance of engaging in battle (the challenges of church ministry), remaining focused and disciplined as soldiers, and finally trusting that God will provide the necessary resources and guidance for success. Throughout the sermon, there are numerous scriptural references, particularly from Second Timothy, to emphasize these points. Overall, it serves as a motivational and practical guide for pastors and leaders in how they should engage with their congregations and equip them to take on leadership roles effectively. Scriptures Used: 2 Timothy 2:1, “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 1 Corinthians 15:58, “So then, brethren, we are under obligation, but not under the old covenant, but under a new one based on Christ.” Additional Scriptures for Context: Romans 12:10, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is wrong and cling to what is right.” Hebrews 4:11, “For here we have no lasting city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” Conclusion: Pastor Rose concludes by reiterating the importance of engaging in battle (the challenges faced in ministry), enduring hardships, and entrusting what has been entrusted to us. He encourages the audience to be ready to pour themselves out for others, serving as examples of grace power and faithful leaders who can help turn America around with the Word of God.

Lean On Me - 2 Chronicles 14

In this sermon, Pastor Jim Rose teaches from a passage from Second Chronicles 14, King Asa of Judah is facing a significant threat from an army led by Zir the Kishai. Despite being outnumbered and cornered in Zeppa valley, Asa calls on his people to seek refuge in God’s protection. He leads them through a strategic battle formation, emphasizing the importance of removing evil influences from their lives before taking up arms. King Asa prays for divine assistance, acknowledging that nothing can help against such overwhelming odds but Him alone. The Lord responds by allowing Judah to be victorious over Zir’s army. This victory marks King Asa’s commitment and faith in God, which he demonstrated throughout his reign as a faithful leader who sought to purify the people from corruption. The lesson here is clear: without divine support, all our efforts are futile. King Asa’s success highlights the need for spiritual preparation—removing sin and restoring purity before engaging in any battle. This passage emphasizes that true victory comes only when God is at the forefront of our preparations.
