Ep4 • From Father to Son: Building the Future of Perdomo Cigars

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2604252/fan_mail/new] PCA 2026 in New Orleans hit us like a wave. Our booth stayed slammed, orders kept rolling, and for the first time in a long time the energy felt like a true turning point for Perdomo Cigars. Nicholas and I sit down right after the show to explain why Perdomo Legacy became the headline, why retailers showed up ready to expand their selections, and what it means when you see that kind of real-world pull from the market.  We also unpack something we’ll never take for granted: Perdomo Legacy Nicaraguan Shade Grown getting named Cigar of the Year by four different major cigar media outlets. We talk about why those awards matter, what “hands down number one” signals to cigar smokers, and how our team’s consistency shows up when it counts. Then we get into the Perdomo Legacy Father and Son project, comparing blends, sharing tasting notes, and explaining the craft details premium cigar fans care about, from 10 to 15-year aged tobaccos to bourbon barrel aging and the cabinet chest presentation.  If you’re a cigar retailer, we share the practical playbook we keep repeating: this is a hand-sell cigar, and staff training plus product knowledge makes the difference. We also talk about why the Perdomo Podcast is taking off, how we approach cigar myths, and why we care so much about teaching cigar storage, cutting, and lighting the right way. Finally, we lay out how we’re expanding accounts in 2026 by growing farms, adding factory capacity, and investing in people, including the jobs we’re proud to create in Nicaragua.  Subscribe for more, share this with a friend who loves premium cigars, and leave a review so more cigar smokers can find the show. Ep3 • First of It’s Kind: Perdomo Reserve Champagne

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2604252/fan_mail/new] A Connecticut-wrapped cigar that actually tastes creamy, rich, and complex sounds obvious now, but it wasn’t in the late 90s. We’re Nicholas Perdomo and Nick Perdomo, and we’re finally telling the real Perdomo Reserve Champagne story: how one phone call about aging Connecticut seed wrapper inventory turned into a blend that changed what people expected from a “light wrapper” premium handmade cigar.  We get specific about what made Champagne different from the crowded humidor scene back then. Instead of following the dominant formula, we paired a Connecticut shade wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler and worked the blend hard so the fillers wouldn’t overpower the wrapper. We talk about building the recipe through lot numbers, why we aimed for a medium-bodied cigar that’s easy-going, and how “smooth” and “mild” are not the same thing when you’re chasing real cigar flavor and balance.  Then we go deep on process: sorting, curing, fermentation, and why we believe great Connecticut needs roughly 60 months of aging to lose the sharp edges and develop those honey tones and creamy, almond-vanilla character. We also share the quality mindset behind stockpiling tobacco and the behind-the-scenes reason the gold cellophane exists: UV protection that preserves wrapper color under humidor lighting, while accidentally creating a signature “champagne” look.  If you’ve never tried Perdomo Reserve Champagne or you thought Connecticut wrapper cigars were always tart or boring, this conversation is for you. Subscribe, share the show with a fellow cigar lover, and leave a review telling us what “smooth but flavorful” means to your palate. Ep2 • Why Patience Is The Best Cigar Tool

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2604252/fan_mail/new] The fastest way to ruin a great cigar is to rush the first 60 seconds. Nicholas Perdomo sits down with his dad, Nick Perdomo, to break down the hands-on cigar basics that most people never learn: how to cut a cigar cleanly, how to light a cigar without scorching flavor, and how to avoid the common mistakes that lead to harsh smoke and constant relights. We get specific about cigar cutting techniques, comparing the straight cut, V-cut, and punch cut with clear pros and cons for draw, smoke temperature, and blend consistency. Nick explains why a guillotine straight cut is his top choice, how to “shave the cap” so you don’t pull tobacco into your mouth, and how to handle intimidating shapes like a torpedo or belicoso with a simple quarter-inch clip. If you’ve ever wondered why a punch cut can feel hot or why a V-cut sometimes leaves debris, you’ll hear the practical reasons in plain language. Then we move to cigar lighting. Instead of torching the foot, we walk through the “toast the foot” method, rotating the cigar 360 degrees to seal the wrapper to the binder for better combustibility, less flaking, and a cleaner burn. We also share why we don’t remove the cigar band too early, plus the “pinky rule” that helps prevent wrapper cracks. To close, we tackle nicotine sickness: how not to get sick from a cigar, how proper humidity around 65% matters, why you should never inhale, and the quick sugar fix we use during tasting and blending. If you found this helpful, subscribe, share it with a friend who keeps torching the foot, and leave a review with your go-to cutter and lighter setup. Ep1 • Father & Son Handcraft a PERDOMO LEGACY

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2604252/fan_mail/new] A new cigar blend is one thing. Building a cigar with your dad, then pulling back the curtain on every decision, is something else entirely. We’re Nicholas Perdomo and Nick Perdomo, and we’re kicking off the Perdomo Podcast Show with the story people keep asking for: Perdomo Legacy Father and Son. We talk through why we finally chose to make a limited edition cigar, how small lots from our farms can be too rare for regular production but too good to ignore, and why this collaboration matters for our family’s future in the premium cigar industry. You’ll hear the deep details cigar lovers crave, including our proprietary Nicaraguan shade grown hybrid wrapper (Cuban-seed Habano crossed with Cameroon-seed), and how that genetics match delivers richness plus sweetness and aroma. We get specific about cigar blending basics like primings, and we compare how higher vs lower primings change flavor, burn, and balance. We also explain how Nicaragua’s key regions Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega give us a wider blending canvas. Then we go into the “engineered” stuff: the six-inch 48-60-52 format, the soft box press, why we chose wooden molds for oily tobaccos, and how moisture control helps uniform aging and fermentation. We close with our take on Connecticut wrapper myths, plus the thinking behind our luxury green packaging and the 50-count chest that can double as a humidor. If you enjoy real cigar education, subscribe, share this with a fellow cigar smoker, and leave a review. What blend are you most excited to smoke: Shade Grown, Maduro, or Connecticut?
