8. The Layered Shadows of Socialization: Intersectionality
**{Sun in Pisces, Moon in Gemini}**
This is an episode surrounding my experiences with socialization, intersectionality, and privilege. Love and compassion is the answer... once we RAW-LY, and gracefully move through the real & valid intensities of anger, pain, grief, etc. There is much to be purged, witnessed, observed, heard, and expressed. What is your story? How can sharing this struggle, or perspective, be an insightful awakening to & for another?
**DISCLAIMER**:
Identifiers/Labels are an expression of pride (aka being proud of who you are and where you come from), rich roots, and history that is vital, cathartic, and also, at times, triggering (or even traumatic). Although I express a slight opposition to the idea of them, there is a practical importance they carry as well.
I would also like to express, that what I may feel is a privilege or disadvantage maybe be completely different for another. For example, being in the neuro-minority maybe an advantage for some and a disadvantage for another.
I would also like to correct myself on one of the comments I made about not being bothered by racial things. I most DEFINITELY have triggers and traumas surrounding race, and I have been hurt by racial biases. I also feel that my reaction, to these experiences, is unique and more internalized... For example, my instant reaction isn't usually anger, it's confusion, grief/sadness, and a big "WHY?". I like to record these episodes in one take, so that it's authentically a stream of consciousness, however I feel the deep sensitivity of this topic (& my fear of being misunderstood) as well so I wanted to be sure to clarify a few things I said about my experience with this topic.
I invite anyone, in this space, to lovingly share their story to uplift, enlighten, and educate each other on the experiences we have as gorgeously, unique individuals.
