âïž About the Author
Hello! Iâm Emilie Tunstill, a mama-of-two and author from Adelaide, South Australia. Iâve always had a passion for writing. But thereâs nothing quite like having two young children to bring out your inner child, creativity and imagination. So, in 2023 I took my first steps in pursuit of my dream to become a published author. And now, that dream has become a reality, with my debut picture book â The First Year â released in August 2024.
đš About the Illustrator
It was an absolute pleasure collaborating with fellow Adelaide mama and artist Elle Dawson-Scott, who brought my carefully chosen words to life with the most beautiful illustrations. Elle is a mama, step-mother, pun-enthusiast, op-shop addict, artist, illustrator, and photographer from South Australia. She is a multi-talented artist, who does everything from portraits and freelance illustration work, to running art workshops for corporate and private events, to painting giant murals around the city.
Elle and I worked incredibly closely on developing the illustrations and it was one of the highlights of my publishing journey â I had fairly strong ideas before we started of what I wanted on each page, and gave her a pretty detailed brief for every image, and then somehow she captured all I wanted, as well as bringing in her own ideas and perspectives, that made it 100 times better than I was imagining in the first place.
