What's that thing called when......This week, Tori & Heena get behind the camera and open up the floor to Bella Hawkins & Jazmine Paxon. Jazmine is usually behind the scenes, making sure everything flows perfectly for TRT, but this time, she's front and center as she has a conversation with Bella about their perspective and experiences being two Biracial Black women.  Thank you both for being vulnerable with us and sharing your story. Equity in the Economy: The Future is Bitcoin with Gerson Martinez

What's that thing called when BIPOC communities can truly benefit from Bitcoin? Oh yeah, it's "The Race Thing." This week, Tori and Heena sit down with Bitcoin Miner, Gerson Martinez, who explains what Bitcoin is, how it can benefit black and brown people in establishing generation wealth, and why fiat money or "USD" is bound to go extinct. Thank you so much to Gerson for talking with us. If you're interested in learning more about Bitcoin, here are a few resources you can use. Fighting For Climate Justice with Hope Clark and Wandra Wilson

What’s that thing called when climate justice becomes a Civil Rights issue? Racial justice is climate justice. We all have to interact with our surroundings but even with our environment, communities who suffer the most are BIPOC. We can’t go without seeing the very literal visual disparity in where POC live in the U.S. While BIPOC communities contribute to the least amount of environmental change, these communities suffer the most at the hands of environmental injustice. Listen in to our conversation with Wandra Williams and Hope Clark as we talk about what can we do fight back and create a chance for the future.  ClimateXChange Website: https://climate-xchange.org/ ClimateXChange Twitter: https://twitter.com/CXCMaryland Rebuild Maryland Coalition: https://www.rebuildmdcoalition.org/ Want to buy our new merch? Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Books! Representation in Literature with Christina Acosta & Allyson DeMaagd

What's that thing called when the literature we have access to lacks culture? Oh yeah, it's "The Race Thing!" We're back from our Holiday Break! We hope all of you are staying warm, healthy, and whole during this cold winter season! We've got some amazing guests lined up for you all to enjoy as we continue with Season 3. Thank you all for listening with us into the new year. Happy 2022! To get started with our new episodes, we talked to Christina Acosta and Allyson DeMaagd about their new book club. Their first meeting was January 13, 2022 and we spoke with them after. Check out their press release below to learn more! This new book club was designed for those who seek to engage in conversations that focus on Diversity, Equity, and Social Issues. The first meeting will take place on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. via Zoom. All book club meetings will take place on the second Thursday of every month from January through May. Interested readers are encouraged to register for the first meeting at www.tcfl.org [http://www.tcfl.org/]. “The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Book Club was something that the library as well as Talbot Family Network wanted to do for almost a year now,” said Talbot County Free Library Communications Manager Christina Acosta. “This was an opportunity for the community to come together and discuss inclusion and diversity from different viewpoints and different locations. It was important for us to cover the history, present, and future.” Community members are welcome to attend any of the sessions and will not be required to register for the whole series. For Talbot Family Network Executive Director Nancy Andrew, this book club will highlight the challenging topics to work through, with “constructive conversation.” “Equity and diversity can be challenging topics on their own. Personal stories and reading can provide a means through which to have a constructive conversation. Hopefully, with practice, it becomes more comfortable to talk with others in our community about these issues,” said Andrew. “My hope is to learn more about the lived experience of others.” The list of dates and books includes “House on Mango Street,” by Sandra Cisneros on January 13, 2022; “We Are Not Like Them,” by Christine Pride on February 10, 2022; “When They Call You A Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir,” by Patrisse Kahn-Cullors and Asha Bandele on March 10, 2022; “Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor,” by Layla F. Saad on April 14, 2022; and “A Place for Us,” by Fatima Farheen Mirza on May 12, 2022. Want to buy our new merch?
