#2 - Dr. Susan Smith: The Metaphysics of Race, Whistling Vivaldi, and Racial Inequity in Healthcare

Dr. Susan Smith is a senior lecturer in the cognitive science department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. At RPI, Susan teaches a variety of courses, including Bioethics, Philosophy of Race, and Philosophy of Biology and Sex. Her research has largely consisted in the intersection between healthcare and race, and therefore she has a plethora of knowledge on racial inequity in the U.S.'s healthcare system. I met Susan as a student in her Philosophy of Race class, and though I think the class is a little too consistent with progressive politics, I found myself infinitely more comfortable talking about race afterward.
