Descripción

Psalm 23 (ESV) The Lord Is My Shepherd A Psalm of David. 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  2     He makes me lie down in green pastures.  He leads me beside still waters.  3     He restores my soul.  He leads me in paths of righteousness      for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,      I will fear no evil,  for you are with me;      your rod and your staff,      they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me      in the presence of my enemies;  you anoint my head with oil;      my cup overflows.  6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me      all the days of my life,  and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord      forever. Still I Rise - Maya Angelou

STILL I RISE, BY MAYA ANGELOU  You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise.   Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? ’Cause I walk like I've got oil wells Pumping in my living room.   Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I'll rise.   Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? Shoulders falling down like teardrops, Weakened by my soulful cries?   Does my haughtiness offend you? Don't you take it awful hard ’Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines Diggin’ in my own backyard.   You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise.   Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise That I dance like I've got diamonds At the meeting of my thighs?   Out of the huts of history’s shame I rise Up from a past that’s rooted in pain I rise I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide, Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.   Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear I rise Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise I rise I rise. Poems are green and Poetry is mean. -Poetry Beast Please accept my endless gratitude, I'm tickled pink, You're a gift! Thank you for your time and attention. Sonnet 18: Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? - William Shakespeare

Sonnet 18: Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? By William Shakespeare Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer’s lease hath all too short a date; Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm'd; But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st; Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:  So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,  So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
