Are Your Friends A Safe Space?

The recent situation surrounding the death of Nolan Xavier Wells and the authenticity (or shall I say lack of ) from his friend group has the nation in a doozy. How is it that a young, Black man with a promising future is no longer living after going on a Fourth of July trip with supposed “friends?” A ton of questions with even more answers that we may not ever get the opportunity to learn. One thing’s for sure is these “friends” did not provide a safe space for Nolan, but it also poses the question if any of our own friends are truly the safe space we believe them to be? Let’s get into it …

Everyone Has A Story

We all have heard the saying “you never know what people are going through” which seems to be true. We don’t know everyone’s thoughts, trials, insecurities, obstacles just like we don’t know every triumph, celebration, or victory. As we grow and evolve, we start to realize that even those “twinkling” the brightest have faced the greatest of challenges. We can’t assume that people who seem to be “sitting on top of the world” don’t have any problems and/or struggles. We all are human just trying to make the best of our life experiences.

This episode is a simple reminder for those who have been pushed down by life - those who continue to show up even through the hard moments - that your glow and your twinkle is needed and appreciated. No one can twinkle like you and your twinkle is a constant needed in this cold world. Never be afraid to allow others to experience your TWINKLE ✨

When Bullying Strikes Twice

The recent conviction of Karmelo Anthony of first degree murder has the Black community feeling a mix of emotions. Why didn’t the jurors consider a lesser charge? What could his defense team do differently/better? It’s sad to witness what could’ve been resolved with a conversation end up in tragedy for both parties involved. Karmelo was being bullied which led to Austin Metcalf, unfortunately, loosing his life. But now Karmelo is being bullied by an even bigger entity - the U.S. government
