They are both deeply passionate about the ripple effect that can alter the path of communities and future generations that do not confront the issues of incarceration. In this episode we introduce you to our podcast and invite to take this journey to supporting those who are often silenced by the traumatic experience of incarceration. This week’s episode is an introduction to the podcast where to talk about what we both learned from our practice and what we hope to bring to our conversations weekly. We will be chatting with family members, experts and ex- offenders who will shed some light on what it has been like to impacted by incarceration. Rev. Kyle Carter is a Duty Chaplain in a maximum-security correctional Detention Centre, with over fifteen years of experience working with community organizations, emergency residential care and the homeless. As a Restorative Justice facilitator, he prepared attendees for difficult conversations, including meeting with their victims. He encourages families facing major life changes and understands the value in running art programs and healing circles within communities and prisons. Carole Sandy is a Couple and Family Therapist and a Registered Social Worker who has worked alongside families, and individuals facing domestic violence, family break-ups and formally incarcerated individuals effected by their past actions.
