"We've all got mental health just as we've all got physical health and we're on a spectrum from good mental health to poor mental health. And sometimes that means having a mental health problem. So I think it's fair to say we have good days and bad days, during this year, I think even sometimes a day, you can go through all sorts of different emotions in one day; so we're always going up and down that scale all of the time." This week's Healthy Conversation with Ben Mescam features Hayley Jarvis, Head of physical activity at MIND - a Mental Health Charity and a volunteer for Dudley Mind where she runs a group called "Jolly Joggers". Today we hear how exercise activates all of the key areas which help us deal with low moods and other mental health problems. Best of all, most of these benefits are immediate. Physical activity, three times a week for 45 minutes is the dosage that is prescribed by some doctors for people with mild to moderate depression. Furthermore, there's a discussion about people who face resistance when considering exercising. How do we get beyond the garden gate and over those various barriers?
