The Gateways Club

In 1930's bohemian Chelsea, the 20th century's longest running lesbian bar was established. As its name alludes to, the Gateways Club was a gateway to a world in which lesbian and bisexual women could embrace and explore their identities in safety. Documented in Into The Cellar and The Killing of Sister George, the Gateways Club's murals and smoke-filled interior was a home to lesbians and bisexual women until its closure in 1985, and particularly during World War Two. Royal Vauxhall Tavern

The Palladium of Drag is filled with so many queens that of course it is royal. The Royal Vauxhall Tavern has been a home to UK's LGBT+ community and a stage for many drag artists, such as Lily Savage and Regina Fong, and is the UK's first building to be listed in recognition of its importance to LGBTQ community history. Among all this, it was a retreat for the world's most famous princess.
