Acerca de A Time For Everything

Inspired by the most emo book of the Bible, "A Time For Everything" with Deana Velandra is a space to talk about God, faith journeys, situational comedies, our childhoods, and everything in between. Who is God to you? How does religion/spirituality play a role in your life? Which boy band member did you fantasize about as a pre-teen? Deana is ready to discuss life's most pressing questions with you! "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." A Week Away- an analysis of Netflix's original Christian musical w/ Sydney and Dylan

On this week's episode, I sit down with married people, Sydney and Dylan, to discuss the newest Christian jukebox musical trending on Netflix, A Week Away. (Spoilers, obviously). We discuss emotional manipulation at Christian camp, cultural appropriation, and camp romance. We also talk about the form of musicals in general, and how Kenny Ortega should probably sue the producers of this movie. Lastly, we talk about Christian media in general, and what we'd like to see from it moving forward.  Follow the podcast on instagram: @atimeforeverythingpod Support the podcast: https://anchor.fm/deana-velandra/support Let me know if you enjoyed this format! Being Queer, Asian, #progressiveChristian, and Enneagram 4 w/ Joy Portinga

This week's joyful episode involves me asking Joy (she/her) about her experience with her Christian fellowship, Intervarsity. Joy takes us through her journey of being a progressive Christian, and the intersections of being bisexual and Asian within that space. I ask Joy some questions about being a worship leader, and what emotional manipulation can look like in church. Also, Joy and I bond over both being enneagram 4w3s, touching on topics like gatekeeping, being introverted, and jealousy.  Follow Joy's photography instgram: @joy_portinga Follow the podcast on instagram: @atimeforeverythingpod Make a small monthly contribution: https://anchor.fm/deana-velandra/support Don't forget to rate 5 stars and write a review on Apple Podcasts!

episode What is Universalist Unitarianism? w/ Finn! (from Canada!) artwork

What is Universalist Unitarianism? w/ Finn! (from Canada!)

This week I got to interview Finn (they/them) about what it's like to be a Universalist Unitarian (UU) in Canada. Finn tells me about the many ceremonies involved in Universalist Unitarianism, including water communion, bridging ceremonies, and angel wash. Then, Finn explains why UU is not an apolitical religion, and we discuss political differences between the US and Canada. Finn also talks about what it's like to be trans in a UU community, and gives us a brief overview of sex education and anti-racism* work within UU. Lastly, I ask about worship services, prayer, and misconceptions about UU.  *In the interview, I reference a book I read about race and the ELCA recently. That book was Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the US by Lenny Duncan. Highly recommend.  Follow the podcast on instagram: @atimeforeverythingpod Make a small monthly contribution: m https://anchor.fm/deana-velandra/support
