Addams Family

Addams Family For over 80 years the Iconic Addams Family has been a staple of pop culture in America. Starting out as a single block comic and eventually becoming a TV show in the 60’s, America’s favorite ghoulish gang finally found their way to the Silver screen in 1991. Addams Family movie throws us right into their witchly whimsical world and assumes you know who are main characters are, and even if you don’t it doesn’t matter. This family wears their beating hearts on their sleeves. Father and husband Gomez Addams, who is brought to life by Raul Julia is distraught over the disappearance of his younger even more eccentric brother lost in the Bermuda Triangle 20 years ago, Fester, played to perfection by Christopher Lloyd, . His apparatious wife, Morticia, played by Anjelica Huston and his two maniacal mischievous children Wednesday and Puglsey (Christina Ricci and Jimmy Workman, respectively) do their best to bring some dark light into their father’s life. Lo and behold Fester shows up early in the movie and the family must discern whether to celebrate their dear Uncle Fester’s return or be suspicious of an intruder. Every actor in this movie deserves an Ovation for their performances but truly the trifecta of Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, and Christopher Lloyd really knock it out of the park. Acted as if they were born for these roles, they become one with their characters and the movie becomes simply reality. And that’s why we are talking about this movie to this day and will be for years, because once upon a time films like this didn’t play by the rules. They cheat physics, flirt with danger and stare long and lovingly into death’s charming eyes. And just as we tend to turn away at that scary thought we wish we could all be like the Addams Family, snap our fingers and call this dangerous moment, home. Episode 6- A League of their Own

Instagram- @withrowbros A League of their Own Set in 1943, while the USA is entering WW2 ALOTO delves into the a fictional story based on the non fictional world of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. While the boys are away at war the women are chosen to continue the tradition of America’s Favorite Past time: Baseball. The story spotlights the movie’s main ragtag team “The Rockford Peaches” as they swing and catch their way through the rungs of the league. Set dressed with impeccable detail ALOTO sweeps you up in a bundle of nostalgic Americana while the actors not only nail their roles but bring a nuanced flair of ww2 era dialect and rhetoric. Underneath the flim veneer of a feel good dramedy ALOTO sneakily houses a beautiful subplot of raw fierce and brutally honest competition between our two main characters sister’s Dottie and KItt. This is a movie’s movie and if you let it fool you you’ll walk away with not much more than a concession stand candy bar high. But if you look just a little deeper you’ll see the true nucleus. A story of what we tend to do in the face of fear, PLAY BALL!

Episode 5- Tombstone

Tombstone dir by George P. Cosmatos, 1993.  In 1897 Tombstone tells the story of law man Wyatt Earp and his brothers as they settle in to the town of Tombstone Arizona to start a life of retirement. Their peace is short lived as they find Tombstone a lawless and morally depraved town terrorized by an unscrupulous gang called the “Cowboys” led by the diabolical Curly Bill. The Wyatt brothers face the dilemma of the growing need to impart justice or turn a blind eye and continue living the "good life". Canvased by the bustling city and an ensemble of historical figures such as Doc Holiday and Johnny Ringo Tombstone pulls you right into the middle of the zenith of the American West. Acted brilliantly with personal connections from the actors to their characters with instantly classic dialogue such as I’m your huckleberry or skin that smoke wagon and see what happens and directed with obsessive detail makes this movie not just a film but an experience that has stood the test of time. Tombstone. Cody and Jared Withrow are brothers. Located in South Florida and Los Angeles respectively they still find the time to do the damn thing.
