I went to a tulip field at the weekend. 550,000 bulbs. And I couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards. Not one of those bulbs waited to feel ready. Not one of them asked for permission to bloom. They were planted, nurtured and when the time came they just grew. Towards the light. Without apology. And it got me thinking about the two ways we get in our own way. The first is not planting at all. Keeping the bulb in the bag. Waiting until conditions feel perfect. Until we feel ready enough. The second, and this one is just as sneaky, is planting and then digging it up before it has a chance to grow. Changing everything because we can’t see results yet. Pivoting from fear not from wisdom. In this episode I’m talking about both. The good girl conditioning that keeps us waiting. The expectation gap that makes us uproot before we bloom.
