Today's medical school coaching programs focus on a wide variety of individualized goals, including professional identity formation and academic performance, while strengthening skills such as community building, leadership and lifelong learning. In this episode of Catalyzing Change in MedEd, you'll listen in on a mini coaching session with guests Nicole Deiorio, MD, associate dean for Student Affairs and professor of Emergency Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and Maya Hammoud, MD, MBA, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Learning Health Sciences, University of Michigan Medical School, to better understand the nuances of academic coaching and what differentiates it from coaching in athletics. To better understand the impact of the initiative, Dr. Andrews spoke with two principal investigators from the grant teams and the AMA's director of program evaluation to discuss their projects, the community of practice for GME innovation that evolved over the six years, and how they intend to continue to innovate beyond the grant term.
