In 1923 Herbert Sellner designs a ride with water toboggans that would slide down large inclines and skim across bodies of water....but the person credited as the 'Father of the Waterpark,' George Millay (1929-2006) was an American entrepreneur who founded SeaWorld in 1964 and later opened Wet 'n Wild in Orlando, Florida, in 1977. His vision for a dedicated park solely focused on water rides revolutionized the amusement industry. Today, there are waterparks all over the U.S....indoor parks, outdoor parks...and you can enjoy it all without dealing with hassle and expensive of a backyard pool.
