In this first episode of book club pick no. 24, we talk about how we read poetry, the themes we noticed, and the poems that stood out to us Hala Alyan is the author of four award-winning collections of poetry as well as the novel Salt Houses, which was the winner of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and the Arab American Book Award and a finalist for the Chautauqua Prize. She is currently based in Brooklyn where she works as a clinical psychologist.
