Chris Singleton is a former professional baseball player in the Chicago Cubs organization as well as an inspirational speaker who has been featured on ESPN’s E:60, Sports Illustrated magazine, and USA Today. His mother, Sharonda Coleman Singleton, was murdered along with eight other victims at Mother Emanuel AME church in Downtown Charleston, South Carolina on June 17th 2015 by a racist white supremacist. Chris inspired his city and the nation by him forgiving the man who murdered his mother and stating that “Love is stronger than hate.” Chris inspires his audiences to forgive, overcome adversity, and life the life they were destined for.

Dr. Karisse A Callender is an Assistant Professor, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC). As a clinician, Dr. Callender has worked with adolescents, adults, and families in outpatient and residential dual-diagnosis settings, and provided crisis counseling to individuals who experienced sexual violence.  She has specialized training in the assessment and treatment of trauma and substance use disorders and the use of cognitive and behavioral interventions. Her research interests include sexual violence, substance use, mindfulness, and single case research designs.  NB: We experienced technical difficulties while recording this episode. Shamar Lynton is a young enthusiastic registered counselling psychologist, who is also the founder of Step by Step Counselling Interventions, which is a counselling and psychotheraputic private practice located in the beautiful island of Barbados. He is an alumnus of The university of the Southern Caribbean, there he was able culminate his course of study with an awarded Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He then went on to The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus where he conducted his post graduate studies specialising in the area of Counselling Psychology which gained him a Master science degree in that area. In addition to his academic and professional capabilities, Shamar is an avid sports fan and also an amateur athlete who plays basketball in the local Barbados Amateur Basketball Association league (BABA).
