Short But Sweet - November 21, 2024

On this shortened episode of Beyond the Break presented by the HBPA of Ontario, host Jamie Attard and Woodbine track announcer Robert Geller get you up to date on a busy week of racing from Woodbine (1:13) that had 4 stakes and 42 total races over four days of racing. Last Saturday the ultra consistent and hard trying Wicked Django pulled off an upset in the rescheduled Grade 2 Autumn Stakes (4:12), and reigning Champion Male Sprinter Patches O'Houlihan was denied a 5th consecutive win and bid for a perfect season when the Larry Rivelli ship-in Nobals caught him just before the wire in the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes (10:33). Sunday wrapped up the 2024 Ontario Sired Heritage series with a pair of stakes for the three-year-olds in each division: in the Ashbridges Bay Stakes (18:33) for the fillies, Canuck Racing Club's War Painter closed late to win a wild finish which saw first to fifth decided by only 3/4 of a length, and Mary Self's No More Options scored in the Lake Ontario Stakes (20:26) in the boys division. And to wrap up the episode, Jamie gives you a look ahead (34:41) to the coming week of racing from Woodbine.
