The murder of a 25-year-old cycling phenom in town to prepare for a big race. A crime that struck at the heart of Austin’s competitive cycling community and left two sets of parents mourning the loss of a daughter: The parents of the victim cut down on the cusp of greatness; and the parents of her fleet-footed assassin, who after an international man hunt (and an additional foot chase through the streets of Austin on the eve of her trial) would be sentenced to 90 years in the big house. What was behind this uniquely Austin tragedy? This double-length pilot episode opens the aperture wide to explore the context and culture that fueled a flashpoint no one saw coming. This is part 1 of a three-part mini-series. It was written during May 2024 (the two-year anniversary of Mo Wilson's death) and recorded June 5th and 6th.
