Walk Across America

A few years ago, two men were walking down the streets of Springdale, Arkansas. They were pushing a baby stroller full of items and carrying some home-made poster board signs. Hours later I would meet them at a local restaurant. Their journey was to walk across America to raise awareness for children in afterschool programs. Recently, I reconnected with a former student of mine. As a teacher in a jail, I always wondered what happened to certain kids; did their life turn around, are they still incarcerated, are they still alive?
