Campfires and Creepy Things
Welcome Creepy Campers! This week’s episode is lighter on the paranormal than usual but we think it’s worth a discussion. We’ve all been horrified by stories from the past about how mental illness and the people suffering from it have been treated. Pennhurst started as a school for children, but is now considered one of the most haunted abandoned asylums in the US. London’s Bedlam Hospital may not have any ghost stories attached to it, but its awful history stretches back centuries. Both of these institutions serve to remind us of how vulnerable people have historically been treated. And hopefully, they also remind us of the right way to treat people. Grab a drink, take a seat by the fire, and listen to the horrifying history of two of the world’s most infamous asylums.
