In this episode we discuss germline testing, a type of genetic testing that can be helpful for cancer patients. Germline is the fundamental genetic code inherited from your parents. Mutated genes passed on from a parent can manifest as an inherited disease. Germline testing can uncover if you have specific genes or underlying conditions that have led to the development of your cancer. This information can be used to select more effective treatments. Germline testing can also allow those who are worried about the development of cancer to discover if they have genes that put them at risk.
