Conversations with my Conservative Dead Father
EPISODE 8 Hello and welcome to episode eight of Conversations with my Conservative Dead Father. This podcast comes from direct transcriptions of the email exchanges my father and I had the year before he died. My father was a smart educated guy who happened to also be a conservative. As you might guess, I’m a liberal. These discussions create a forum I know he would proud to be a part of - even if there’s a dangling participle in that sentence. Sorry Pops! We never tried to convince each other. Our objective was to learn and listen. It was a great gift to be able to hear the other side from someone who I very much respected, even if I totally disagreed with the conclusions. So let’s get started. ---- For more information about me: mail@nightshiftaudio.com [mail@nightshiftaudio.com] www.NightShiftAudio.com [http://www.NightShiftAudio.com] * * Topics covered include:New documents on Trump. * Biden’s tax plan. * Direction of the American educational system. * Balancing military spending with education funding. * The possibility of America leaning too far into socialism. JG’s Views: * Acknowledges Biden's change in views. * Criticizes Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and downplaying its severity. * Feels negatively affected by Trump’s presidency, but appreciates the economic benefits. * Advocates for reallocating military funds to healthcare and education. Education Discussion: * Pops:Believes the U.S. educational system is already heavily funded without effective results. * Criticizes the influence of political correctness in schools. * Emphasizes the need for a neutral educational atmosphere that fosters independent thought. * JG:Believes the U.S. has a duty to represent its diverse history and cultures in education. * Highlights the Stonewall riots as a significant historical event. * Advocates for letting younger generations decide the direction of their education. The discussion between JG and Pops is a reflection of the differing views across generations, touching upon politics, education, and societal values. ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
