Descripción

I hadn't planned on making this a podcast until last night as I was thinking about how we don't have a lot of ways to connect with each other around grief. We all come together for the funeral or memorial and then it's "over." Even though the experience of grief continues long after people have stopped coming by with the flowers and the casseroles. I needed a way to pause and think about my Dad as I approach the 1 year mark of his death. I wanted to invite others to join me to promote a sense of togetherness and connection - through grief.  I'm going to light a candle in honor of my Dad at 6:50pm tomorrow (January 11th) and I'm inviting all of you to join me. You can honor someone that you have lost or support someone you know who is grieving by lighting a candle and letting them know that you were thinking of them.  Rest in Peace, Dad.

Advocating for Creating Against Environmental Encouragement to Consume

Trigger warning: The content in this episode includes suicide. If you would rather not hear about that subject, please be kind to yourself and skip this one. National Suicide hotline: 1-800-273-8255 or Text 988. Spoiler Alert: Content from Season 2 of Ted Lasso is talked about in this episode. Last episode I talked about my process for slowing my life down and taking time for reflection every January. I wanted to share the result of that process and what my intention is for 2023. I shared why I think this process is so helpful given the way our society is structured. My word for 2023 is heal and I wanted to be honest about why healing is a priority for me. I couldn't do that without sharing my struggles and just how bad things got in my internal world. I found it challenging to write about suicide and at the same time, I'm profoundly proud of myself for being brave and choosing to trust you all with my story. I'm hoping that it will accomplish 2 things. 1) People may get a better understanding of what it can look like to struggle with mental health. 2) People who are struggling right now in silence, will feel seen.
