Post 1: Desiree is a Northern California based country-folk musician with roots in the Bay Area and the ranch lands of San Benito County. Her songs have grown out of a childhood spent listening to old country cassettes and reading western novels on a cattle ranch, and matured into the heartbreaking ballads of soulful anthems that are relevant in present day Oakland. She pays tribute to the spirit of both the Country & Folk traditions, crafting music that is as vulnerable as it is strong-willed and fierce - she sings with the raw truth of the country greats, and the emotional depth of the often forgotten folk heroes. Her songwriting is intimate and nostalgic, and her music reminiscent of all those that have existed for the sake of the song. Desiree released an album back in 2018 called “Beach Sleeper” LOVE IT! Great writing! 🎶✨🤙🙌 Post 2: Desiree is a Songster from Northern California in true spirit of Country and folk she writes songs rich in melody that combines great themes and imagery. Raw and authentic storytelling with a plain spoken willfulness reveling truths and emotion that evoke memories of past relationships and moments that have past by. She sings with great presence, heart and soul communicating clearly an open vulnerability with tender vocals that cut tough. Loving the LP she released back in 2018 “Beach Sleeper”such a great album! one of them ones you can roll a joint of some fine green bud and listening right through feeling every line, great musical arrangements that’ll get ya moving!🤙 Awesome songwriting! Beautiful songs! “Low Flyin’ Angel” first verse reads ”I had a love as cold as the ground, when the sun hasn’t shined for miles around,” and “the rain never came to wash it away, it fell down and frozen and there it all stayed.” So good! 🙌 or “ walking below a dark dusty sky, when I came upon an Angel on high, and she told me to pack up my things, and I turned to her said I don’t got your wings” terrific line! Pre chorus to chorus “Cause I ain’t from this side of town, i’ll stay here forever no up or down, where I belong I can’t say, so low flying Angel won’t you be on your way.” Spectacular phasing that’ll give ya them chills! such poetry! “Mountain Lion Momma” great intro on this song! A cozy acoustic arrangement that sets the vibe and makes ya want to dance! love them verses and the whole sound of this track. & “Gibson Blues” just to name a few of my favorites! Post 1: Lucia is a Songwriter from the West Coast. The Bay area originally, but has been living in her Mothers ancestral land of Stockholm Sweden for almost ten years now where she went to study music. She’s currently working on releasing an EP and enjoying all beauty around her so rich in history!🇸🇪 Looks to be a magical place! Her voice is amazing and she has spectacular range! “hits them notes that’ll give ya chills” Great lyrics & awesome songwriting. In the spirit of Folk music with strong roots in blues & Jazz in which you can tell she has a musical background in. Makes for a beautiful sound! huge influences you will hear in her music are artists like Big Mama Thornton, Adele & Amy Winehouse. You feel she’s singing with the same heart & soul! Post 2: Lucia is a young folksinger living in Stockholm Sweden. She’s part of the ever growing Scandinavian folk & Americana music scene. Really loving Lucia’s style & sound with passionate vocals and poetic lyrics enlivened with emotion this combination makes for great songs and beautiful songwriting. Her song “Gray” is beautifully constructed and tells a story in its vagueness. Awesome lines like “My guard was high enough, convinced me I should give it up, I left my heart out on my sleeve and that’s on me.” Or my favorite “ I thought your Love was true, that this was nothing you could do, but as I told you bout the pain you looked away.” Wow! “When you go by your nickname Gray” Also her song “To Keep You Warm” such an awesome intro with snowflakes and all! For her Gems in the Rough 2021 submission video for this song! The emotion she brings to this performance is outstanding and feels so honest. Lines like “your sudden anger took me by surprise, I changed my whole life to keep you warm at night” and “Tried to keep my head down not make a sound” blown away by them vocal runs she’s doing when she sings Post 3: For a Crabtree Sessions Thursday Poetry & Written Word night Jordan is a talented Poet, Artist & Songwriter from the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. Truly enjoyed hosting Jordan and having him share his poetry & music. Jordan has had a bunch of pieces published and most recently has been working on a collection called “American Meditations” beautiful and thought provoking poems.
