Cuppa Care with Deborah Harlow
Dear-heart, This month, we are sitting with the mirror. Not the kind that shows you your hair out of place or your reflection in passing, but the mirror that lives inside you. The mirror that shows you the shadow you’d rather not see. The mirror that whispers: It’s time to look. Shadow work is often misunderstood. People think it means chasing down everything dark in us, or fixing the “bad” parts. But shadow isn’t bad. Shadow is simply what has gone unseen. It’s the unloved, unintegrated, unacknowledged part of us waiting for belonging. When you look in the inner mirror, you might see the child who learned to over-give to stay safe. You might see the perfectionist who believed love had to be earned. You might see the leader who is still following someone else’s script, afraid to claim her own. This month, I’ve been thinking about how integration isn’t about erasing these shadows. It’s about bringing them home. Like gathering lost pieces of yourself around the hearth and saying: You belong too.
