Moving On

In our first episode of ‘Dear Adds’ our first topic is about transitioning and letting go to move on. Letting go throughout your life is an inevitable challenge that everyone will have to face in multiple ways. In this case, Lauren Oh, a senior at Chapman University, about to graduate with a Bachelors in Psychology while minoring in dance and creative and cultural industries, talks about letting go of a hobby and is soon facing letting go of college. Growing up with a sport, Lauren and Darcy Denneen, a University of York Graduate student who achieved her bachelors in psychology at Chapman last year, had a majority of their lives connected to it, and still are today. They changed from being dance majors hoping for a career into psychology majors and dealt with the residual feelings of loss. These best friends give their insight on their journey and the jealousy that they feel today. Darcy and Lauren talk about how they struggled with being a dancer in college and had to make a decision to save them to keep dancing as a passion in their lives. Additionally, Darcy graduated one year before Lauren so, before Lauren embarked into the real post-grad  world, she asked Darcy about how she felt about being gone from university. After Lauren is done talking to Darcy, she gives her personal insight into how to let go and ease transitions throughout your life. Acknowledging that people cope and adjust in different ways, Lauren hopes that her advice will resonate with you.
