Deliberate Dive
YOOOO- Are you sitting down? Please do for this one, we'll wait.... The Morales cousins sit down with Matteo Valencia, a Stage IV Alveolar Soft Tissue Sarcoma cancer patient whose resilience is matched only by his sense of humor. Matteo opens up about his cancer journey, how Lurie's Cancer Center at Northwestern Medicine gave him the tools for survivorship and how his mom's words, "take it one day at a time" resonate more than ever. Matteo also discusses how his life changed after having his leg amputated and receiving a bionic replacement (made from the same metal as Wolverine’s claws), and why he feels called to help others by sharing his transformation from someone who struggled with vulnerability to someone who now shares his emotions with confidence public speaking at any opportunity that presents itself. Most recently, Matteo was a part of a panel discussion at the 2026 Stupid Cancer Cancercon in Seattle. That's over 300 AYA cancer patients coming together to share a weekend navigating their personal journeys by learning, sharing, living, and finding community in a life altering new reality. This is a conversation about resilience, purpose, and finding humor and hope in the toughest moments. The very first 38th episode of DD has arrived. 2 more until the end of Season 2!
