Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level. Our clock genes control more than we realize, and small changes can make the difference between battling our bodies and effortlessly managing weight, sleep, stress, inflammation, and more. Marrying ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with the latest scientific research, this holistic step-by-step 30-day plan provides the tools - and the schedule - you need to transform your life. Members Reviews: Easy read, great information This was an interesting read, with a lot of real life, useful tips. I have enjoyed may of Deepak Chopraâs books and since he wrote the forward, this book caught my attention. As a parent of three young kids and a background in the health and fitness industry, the book title really spoke out to me. The topic of chronobiology is fascinating and Dr. Kshirsaga shares some great insight. I like that he combines Ayurvedic wisdom and modern medicine in a straight forward relatable way. He shows how eating, sleeping, and weight loss are all related. He goes further to explain how important timing is for eating and what time of day is better to eat more food and when it is better for our bodies to have lighter meals. I was interested in his explanations of sleep cycles, when we should be sleeping and how important sleep isto have a good metabolism. I enjoyed reading how his clients adapted some of his suggestions and were able to see great results. Overall a great read, very interesting and easy to read. There is a lot of useful information I will keep revisiting. At minimum it explains why you can't lose weight even on a JUICE diet. I really think they have something here. Especially if you are someone who works late shift, or travels often, this book may help you keep in mind how circadian rhythm really operates. When I was desperate to lose some weight, having no luck after menopause, I heard that eating too late is a major problem. After I started scheduling my evening meals before 7, I dropped 10 pounds, and I still eat the same things, maybe more volume than before. If you generally feel lousy and gain weight easily, this book may help you out. This is not going to work for some, since you cannot simply quit your second shift job, or stop caring for the kids, etc. Or tell your boss "I cannot travel as often, they may find a new recruit who is all too happy to handle that. And can you. But it may help you set the goal of getting a different job, if your health depends on it? Needs more science and more alternatives--I couldn't live like this if I tried 3.5 stars... This book is interesting and gives you a lot to think about.
