The Modern Church: A Condemned Foundation

Hey babe! I know. Two episodes back-to-back? Well, what would you do if the Lord called you to sup at 4:30 AM? What began as a seed of thought yesterday surfaced in my dream, brought me to my knees, sent me to my Word, and then led me here. In this episode, I reflect on the current state of the nation and the church. There's a blatant link between the two. Pollution, chaos, confusion, and false leaders exist in both. It reminds me of the timeframe in the Gospels. Some people were stubborn and unwilling to accept revelation and change. Others were trying to introduce truth, direction, and salvation. The split was problematic, systemic, and epidemic both then and now. In this episode, the Lord allows me to use the lens of Jeremiah 1 to illustrate the response we should have -- "to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build and to plant." However, the emphasis cannot be on the latter two steps until the former processes are enacted. How do we do that? We must learn and understand our identity, the importance of prayer, the critical role of the Holy Spirit, and the need for a strong foundation in faith and the Word of God. It's time for us to get off the ride of religious behaviors and come to a place of authentic spirituality. When will we become aware, accountable, effectual, and emblematic of Christ and His church? This conversation is tough, but I still extend a loving and graceful invitation.

The conversation also delves into Exodus 13 and 14, exploring themes of trust in God, the importance of faith during challenging times, and the significance of responding to God's call. I emphasize the critical need to let go of past bonds and previous ways of thinking, to embrace the new paths and assignments God has for us. This conversation asks questions like: * Do you want to be comfortable or obedient? * What is it about the process that makes you want to forfeit the promise? * Do you trust God to be bigger than the bondage of your past? * In what ways have you limited or reduced God (in identity and sufficiency)? * What assignment has God given you that feels "before its' time?" * Is the familiarity of your Egypt hindering your exodus? The latter half of this episode is for the remnant -- the believers who are still standing and remaining faithful amidst the opposition, uncertainty, chaos, and stretching. The remnant refers to those who are hungry. They can't be bothered with the norm anymore, but require deeper satiation. They understand that they won't be satisified until they're obedient. The hope through this episode is that you'll embrace your unique journey, make choices that are sound and your own, and recognize the possibilities that come with this stage of life. I hope you're able to recognize the significance of self-discovery and the importance of not being confined by societal expectations or titles. The goal of the series is to shine a light on mental health and the stigmas, stereotypes, misconceptions, and myths that surround it. The first part of this series comes on the heels of a conversation I had with a male associate of mine, A conversation that still lingers, without context and depth, due to the limited and inherited belief that men can't share their feelings or expound on their emotions without feeling like less of a man. I preface tonight's episode by rendering my background in mental health and my personal intersectionality that qualifies me to have this discussion, while also making it clear that there are obviously some things that I may not fully understand due to not being a man. My goal isn't to discount men and their experiences, but rather to reveal the first layer of stigma: people keeping their mouths closed about what they're dealing with because they think the next person may not understand. This kind of maladptive, narrow-minded thinking is what keeps a lot of us tethered to trauma, triggers, isolation, and stagnation. It's time for more open conversations about mental health.
