Dream Schemers
What does the title mean? You gotta listen to find out. This week Josh and Emma speak with Jo Mattingly about her vivid dream world including rollercoasters, sleep paralysis, lucid dreaming and what it all means to her. Jo has a degree in psychology and a long-standing interest in dream self-interpretation. She offers us many amazing insights and was a delight to have her on the show! Our Dream Museum exhibit introduces us to Dr. Erik Hoel [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Hoel]'s Overfitted Brain Hypothesis based on artificial deep learning networks proposes that dreams help our brains stay flexible and able to adapt to new situations. Very cool! If you want to read more here is a link to the entire article [https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666389921000647#:~:text=The%20overfitted%20brain%20hypothesis%20is,causing%20overfitting%20and%20poor%20generalization.] and Dr. Hoel's blog The Intrinsic Perspective [https://erikhoel.substack.com/]. We really loved this one! Check out our new INSTAGRAM! [https://www.instagram.com/dream_schemers/] for updates about our new episodes and extra content. As always please rate and review us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Anchor.fm. If you love us, why don't you tell a friend about us? Music for our episodes by Josh himself.
