Although many head to Palm Springs for the steaks, dates, or Brandini Toffee, we came for different flavours, served up by Kaitlin Flanigan & Rahul Barkley from Brigade. As we have a short film that cooks up an emotional platter of friendship, freedom, bravado, tension, stress, guilt, and denial. THEN, we get to sit down with a first time director, and discover the impetus for the film, the importance of not only showcasing Filipino Martial Arts, but ensuring that the fight scenes felt realistic. Delivering on the feeling of not being excepted, all the nuance behind that, as well as from the Filipino gym and team owner. Thanks to Franckie Francin & Patricia Chica at ChicArt PR we got to dip our toe into the Cannes Festival International Film & Inclusion and cover an extraordinary documentary playing as part of the Pavillon Afriques x Pavillon Afronova. THEN we sit down with the filmmaker to peel back the different aspects of storytelling that allowed for such an immersive experience. Shaimaa Khan and the good folks at London Flair PR came through with a new indie short that we were trying to schedule during the 50th Cleveland International Film Festival, but couldn't quite lock it down. However, we got it to work, so we get a story that, through great storytelling, will draw you in, and have you asking so many internal questions on humanity, empathy, perception, and more. PLUS, it will be screening at the upcoming 25th Tribeca Festival. THEN, we sit down with the great mind behind it all and get all the insights and reflection on making this work, bringing it to life, and putting it into the world!!! Schedules can be real fickle, BUT, Tom Brumpton will always try and make things work. So although things didn't fully align for the 50th Cleveland International Film Festival, we still get to wax lyrically about a new indie short that premiered there with great success. THEN, we sit down with this first time filmmaker and discuss all of her adventures in storytelling. The foundation built with her music career, and what led her to film. As well as jumping into things with such a nuanced tale of identity, loneliness, and the need to be acknowledged by those close to you! A really great chat, that everyone can take something away from!!!
