Descripción

Is paragliding the stupid thing that you do, or is it the path that leads you to realize your life might be worth more than paragliding? Ari DeLashmutt asks that question. Not rhetorically. He's watched people answer it both ways. Ari is a paragliding instructor and men's coach, helping men be safe in the air and secure, authentic and free in their lives on the ground. He runs men's retreats that double as paragliding clinics around the world. He lives in Bend, Oregon with his wife and young child. In this conversation we cover: * How powder skiing unlocked a new dimension and why paragliding took that even further * How to read the invisible, finding thermals when you can't see the air * Why paragliding demands everything: body awareness, risk, ego, emotional intelligence, reverence for nature * Motivational structures underneath risk-taking and how they shift moment to moment * What men actually transform in the group: relationships, sobriety, father-son dynamics, belonging located internally * The concept of obedience, following the current rather than fighting it * Expanded awareness as a skill that transfers from the glider to your whole life * Why getting really good at paragliding reveals you were always dealing with yourself When you get really good at paragliding you start realizing you were never just dealing with the air. You were dealing with yourself. Connect with Ari on Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/ariintheair/] Ari talks about expanded awareness as something you develop over time, one flight at a time. Your story is the same, it's already there, it just needs excavating. If this conversation opened something up for you, that's the starting point. Kiteboarding's Ecosystem and Why My Podcast Needs One

What does it mean to almost lose something you love because you burned out? And what's the difference between burning out in isolation versus burning out inside an ecosystem that holds you? This episode is about burnout, community, and the ecosystems that we build around our passions in order to support doing them sustainably. This past weekend, I went camping and kiteboarding with a group of friends in Baja. While on that trip I realized my community has stayed regardless of me having pulled away from kiteboarding over the last two years. I am realizing that this level of community and ecosystem support around doing something sustainably is not a nice to have, but instead it is a necessary mechanism to carry you forward. My podcast is in need of me building the same support system and community. What You'll Hear: - Why I showed up to a kiteboarding trip expecting 24 hours and stayed because my friends said "stay" - How accepting help and receiving support revealed what's been sustaining kiteboarding through my burnout - The difference between an activity with an ecosystem and a vision in isolation - What happens when you're orbiting your passion instead of being orbited by it - The concrete needs: $250k for a van, strategic collaboration, and permission to receive - Why I need an ecosystem around Enhanced Senses Podcast to keep supporting it Support the Vision: If this resonates and you want to contribute to building the van, the team, or the ecosystem, you can support directly: Venmo: @Danielle-Peecher Or if you want to talk about strategic collaboration, reach out to me on my website or Instagram! episode When Words Aren't Enough: Story, Flow & Altered States artwork

When Words Aren't Enough: Story, Flow & Altered States

Whose story are you living, and how do you find your way back to your own? Brian Stanton is a stage actor based in Los Angeles with an MFA in Acting from California Institute of the Arts. He is most known for his award-winning original solo play BLANK and his award-winning film @ghostkingdom, both personal pieces exploring the complicated and emotional truths of his adoption experience. He also holds a Certificate for Psychedelic-Informed Practice, Harm Reduction and Integration from Psychedelics Today's Vital Education Program. That's how we met. We were both in the Vital cohort, and he was my second ever guest on Enhanced Senses. In this episode, he turns the mic around and interviews me. A year after I interviewed Brian about how we use story as a container for identity, he interviews me about what happens when that container gets murky, when someone else's version of events becomes the one that sticks, and about the DMT experience that told me you can't separate experience from story even if you try. I'm releasing this in a week where I lost one of my closest friends, Renee. She was there at the beginning of this podcast's name. She hiked the first eight miles of the Timberline Trail with me before we turned around. She's woven into the origin of Enhanced Senses in ways I'm still finding. This one is for her. In this conversation we get into: - What happens in your body when fear shows up before a rapid, a record button, or a drop in - Why the container shapes the experience in kayaking, in psychedelics, in podcasting, in all three at once - The difference between moving through fear and getting stuck in it - What a 10-second "of course" video has to do with 60-minute podcast episodes - Two acid trips with the same murky group dynamic and what the common denominator turned out to be - The DMT waiting room and what the scene that followed told me about story and experience - What ketamine makes ineffable and why that might be pointing at something important - Why IFS threads into how I understand both psychedelic experiences and extreme sports - Flow as an altered state of consciousness, what it shares with psychedelics and what stays different - Training Moxie and what co-regulation has to do with trusting your skills in the moment Story is not the cage. It's the container. It's how humans translate energetic experience into something shareable. The DMT experience didn't tell me to let go of story. It told me that experience is story, and that if you want to feel things, you have to be okay with the narrative that unfolds. episode Moving Between Worlds: Creativity, Consciousness & Psychedelics artwork

Moving Between Worlds: Creativity, Consciousness & Psychedelics

What worlds do you have the power to move between? Vex has painted murals around the world. She's been a full-time artist for most of her adult life. And she'll tell you that her career was guided into existence by early experiences with psilocybin and LSD, taken after losing her father and asking the questions most of us eventually ask: what is the point of life? How do I make mine count? This conversation lives at the intersection of creativity, coaching, and psychedelics. We talk about whether consciousness or creativity comes first, how Vex uses metaphor to paint pictures with words instead of paint, what the flying girl she kept returning to as a motif actually represents, and why those who can move between worlds wield the most power. Not as dominance, but as empowerment. In this episode: - How early experiences with LSD and psilocybin after losing her father guided Vex toward becoming a full-time artist - Whether consciousness or creativity comes first and how they interconnect - Integration: what actually has to happen after a psychedelic experience for creativity to open - The left-hand drawing exercise: what the subconscious produces when you stop managing it - How Vex paints pictures with words in her coaching practice using image and metaphor as entry points into emotional blocks - The flying girl: metamorphosis, falling vs. flying, and why she's thinking about bringing her back -Carl Rogers on the personal and the universal and what it means to share the thing that feels most uniquely yours - Moving between worlds: what it means to be the 'weirdo artist' in a business meeting and the business person in an art space - Why the intersection of disciplines is where the juice is Connect with Vex: Instagram: @vexta [https://www.instagram.com/vexta/] Website: vexta.com.au [https://www.vexta.com.au/] Coaching and psychedelic integration: cosmic-vision.com [https://www.cosmic-vision.com/] Vex talks about moving between worlds as the place where the most power lives. Your story lives there too — in the moments where you crossed from one version of yourself into another. If this conversation opened something up for you, that's the starting point. episode Rupture & Integration: A Grand Canyon Story artwork

Rupture & Integration: A Grand Canyon Story

What happens when the container isn't strong enough to hold you? Erin Witter is a certified and licensed natural medicine facilitator in Colorado's regulated psilocybin market, trained in psychedelic preparation and integration, and a practicing psychospiritual transformation coach. He was the very first guest on Enhanced Senses Podcast and in this episode, he turns the mic around and interviews me. This is a flip-flop conversation. A year after I interviewed Aaron, he interviewed me about something I've been processing ever since: a 22-day Grand Canyon river trip, what happened on a layover-day hike, and what integration has looked like in the year since. What You'll Hear: - My history with psychedelics in outdoor and river contexts: from floating Minnesota rivers at 16 to kayaking the Colorado - Why I describe psychedelics as performance-enhancing in a river context, and the nuance on that - What happened on a seven-mile hike on day 10 of the Grand Canyon trip: a trigger, an ask for space, a rupture - What I did to ground myself when the group left and I was alone on a rock shelf at the peak of the experience - The consent question that stayed with me: if someone breaks their foot on a river trip, no one says the group didn't consent to the accident, so what does consent mean when someone has an emotional rupture? - Why preparation and integration matter as much as the journey itself Connect with Erin: - Enhanced Senses Ep. 1 — the original Erin Witter episode, where Danielle interviewed him - Website: coloradopsychedelichealing.com [https://coloradopsychedelichealing.com/] -Instagram: instagram.com/manifest_mind_coaching/ [https://instagram.com/manifest_mind_coaching/] Building your capacity to answer the question about what a container is able to hold is the process of integration. Enhanced Senses Podcast is about the felt sense of being a self. Extreme sports and psychedelics are the portals I've used to reach that felt sense most often in my life.
