This special edition of European Values Perspectives was recorded during the European Values Summit and deals with the topic NATO’s interests in the Indo-Pacific in light of the New Strategic Concept. In 2022, NATO adopted a new Strategic Concept that identifies the alliance’s future goals and ambitions. It reflects, among other things, on NATO’s relationship towards the Indo-Pacific. Special guests of this episode were Dr. I-Chung Lai and Professor Tomonori Yoshizaki, who discussed various aspects of interconnections and cooperation between the Transatlantic and Indo-Pacific regions.

After February 24th of 2022, Ukraine’s integration into the EU and NATO seized to be a subject of discussion and became a matter of survival. At least that’s how most of the Ukrainians perceive their EU and NATO membership. According to recent surveys, more than 80 % of Ukrainians support joining the EU as well as joining NATO. Lieutenant general Kōichi Isobe, who served for 35 years (until 2015) in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, offers his unique perspective on the situation and its consequences on East Asia.
