One of the strangest and most powerful elements in SchemaCouples Therapy is chairwork. Putting parts of self in chairs and standing above those chairs provides an opportunity for empathy, seeing the self differently and allowing for change. But how does it work? Eckhart walks through the neuroscience as well as demonstrating how to work with a couple using chairs. Dr Eckhart Roediger is a specialist in Neurology, Psychiatry andPsychotherapy and Psychotherapeutic Medicine. Since 2007 he has been working in private practice in Frankfurt and as a lecturer and supervisor for behavior therapy and schema therapy. He also holds teaching positions in Cologne and the Kath. Stiftungsfachhochschule in Munich. Since June 2008 he isthe first fully licensed Schema Therapist in Germany and member of the founding board of ISST, founded and director of the Institute for Schema Therapy-Frankfurt (IST-F). Eckhart has served as a member of the ISST Board since 2008, past-President and now honorary member.
