Everyday Theology In Plain English
A vague feeling. An impersonal force. The mysterious, forgotten member of the Trinity. If any of those describe how you've thought about the Holy Spirit, you're not alone. In this episode, we're introducing you to the most misunderstood, and arguably the most present, person of the Trinity in your daily life. We'll unpack who the Holy Spirit actually is, what he does (spoiler: it's more than you think), how to tell the difference between his voice and your own thoughts, and how to develop a real, growing relationship with the person of God who literally lives inside you. If the Spirit has been the fuzzy, undefined member of the Trinity for you, this episode changes that. "The same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation, who empowered the prophets, who raised Jesus from the dead — that Spirit lives in you. You have access to divine power and guidance every moment of every day." In This Episode, You'll Discover: * Why the Holy Spirit is a "he," not an "it" — he has a mind, emotions, and a will * Five things the Spirit does in your life — convicts, regenerates, indwells, empowers, and guides * How to tell the difference between the Spirit's leading and your own thoughts — practical discernment tools Practical Applications: * Acknowledge his presence — the Spirit is already with you; you just need to recognize it * Don't grieve him with sin — confession isn't just about forgiveness; it's about restoring intimacy with the God who dwells in you * Be continuously filled — being filled with the Spirit isn't a one-time event; it's an ongoing posture of dependence Your Assignment This Week: Spend intentional time getting to know the Holy Spirit this week. Each day, start by acknowledging his presence: "Spirit, you are with me." Ask him to fill you and guide you throughout the day. When you face decisions, challenges, or temptations, pause and invite him into the moment. At the end of each day, reflect: Where did you sense the Spirit at work? Begin building a relationship with the person of God who is most present in your daily life. 💬 Community Question: Which person of the Trinity — Father, Son, or Spirit — have you most neglected in your relationship with God? What's one step you could take to know that person better? Share your reflection — it might help someone else recognize an area they've been neglecting too. And let's encourage each other to pursue the fullness of relationship with the God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
